NORTH AMERICA IS NOT THE UNITED STATES!

Let’s get real.  When our government decided to buddy up with Mexico, and Canada, with NAFTA, we had lots of jobs and the United States economy was strong.  NAFTA gave our corporations an excuse to send jobs not only to Mexico and Canada, but also the words “Free Trade” gave them a reason to move jobs any where outside of the United States.  So they did, and still are doing it.

Let’s not get mad at Toyota, Honda, and other foreign car and manufacturing companies when they have problems.  We should help them fix their problems because our citizens of the United States put a lot of these cars together right here in the United States.  Toyota and Honda have brought a lot of jobs into our United States, while our so called American manufacturing companies have been steadily sending the jobs out of the United States.

If it wasn’t for the foreign corporations bringing manufacturing jobs into the United States we would be having even greater economic problems.  I’m not sure how many people are now working for foreign manufacturing companies in the United States, but nobody seems to want to talk about it.  Well I think it’s time we do talk about it.  We need to get real about real jobs.

These so called “Stimulus Jobs” are no more than government short term jobs paid for by tax payer dollars.  They will go away when the tax dollars are used up.  They are not real jobs, they are projects the government created to give the impression that the United States is coming out of a bad economic downturn.

Let’s get real!  Take a look at what is really happening with the United States economy.

In short, the government has taken billions of tax payer dollars and is either giving it away to people not working with such programs as, food stamps, welfare, employment education, temporary job placement, unemployment extensions, creating temporary tax payer paid jobs, and this list goes on and on.

Now, given the same stimulus dollars, a business man or woman, or group of business men or women could figure out a way to spend that money to create real and lasting jobs.  We lack business men and women in government.

Back to my main point…America is not the United States!  It’s time we start thinking about the United States.  Mexico and Canada support their own people.  It’s time we go back to supporting our own people.  Not North America, but…The United States.

Please let me give you some simple examples of what we need to do to fix the economy in the United States.

-         We need to first, freeze the size of our government.  (all of it)  Then we need to start reducing the size of our government.  (all of it)  Then we need to align the pay and compensation our government receives with that of the tax payers; including retirement and social security.  .  Any mandates should be funded by the mandating branch of the government.  Then we must require our government to be responsible to the people.  That’s not all, but it’s a good start.

-         The tax payers can no longer afford the cost of our government and should not have to bare the costs created by their irresponsible spending, and their lack of common sense and self management.

-         Now that we all feel better about our government, we can start to repair our economy.

-         We must require our government to get out of our way so we can run a profitable business.  I’m not saying to ignore our environment or abuse our neighbors with our businesses.  I’m saying quit punishing us for being successful.  That’s what creates more jobs.

-         Our economy will grow when our government lets our businesses profit without their interference.

-         It’s time to tell our government to clean up their own back yard and until they do, stay out of our businesses so the people in the United States will have places to work.

-         THE PROBLEM WITH OUR ECONOMY IS OUR GOVERNMENT!!!  WE CAN NO LONGER AFFORD IT.

We’ll talk more about this soon.  Please keep reading and returning to this web site and don’t be afraid to agree, or disagree.

Talk to you soon,

Dave

Re: NORTH AMERICA IS NOT THE UNITED STATES!

I agree with you sooo far Dave, HOWEVER,..you are not going where it seems the other two parties wont go EITHER!! Up until this point you sound like a republican, or tea party person,..that's isn't good enough,. that isn't helping to create jobs NOW! If you want to be different than the other two, you have to DO and SAY something different like,.."you will introduce a bill that will CHANGE our trade policies, and be called a FAIR TRADE POLICY for the United States!" We are SOON to be the NEXT soviet union, or WORSE, because soon without any manufacturing,..this country will be communist, socialists,...or even worse,..the NEXT WELFARE NATION!! IF you understand history, the STRONGEST nations have been those with a MANUFACTURING BASE!! You know, like we USED to be. NOW,..our worst enemy, communist china, is the strongest manufacturer. They are taking quiet steps to slowly take over the world, economically and militarily. They are the world leading exporter of satellites, (thanks to bill clinton,) they try to hack into our pentagon, and utility infrastructure several times a day, and they are growing their military at a rate never seen to either us or the soviets at any point. All you need to do is look at Korea, to see the WORST single loss of life battle in US history, worse than D DAY! We could not stop them with all our planes, or bombs,..there were just toooo many! And NOW they have proven to us that they can not only shoot down our satellites, but supposedly have satellite to satellite attack capability! WHAT WILL THE ARMIES OF THE UNITED STATES DO AGAINST MULTIPLE TIMES NUMBERS OF CHINESE SOLDIERS, AND EQUIPMENT,..with NO SATELLITE GUIDANCE!!
We have got to STOP this insanity of feeding this evil COMMUNIST giant who will most likely rule the world in our lifetime UNLESS we do something about it NOW! Put tariffs on those goods that do not meet OUR same standards for health, environmental, and yes PAY standards of the workers of the UNITED STATES!! WHY CANT ANY POLITICIAN SEE THIS?? Our current two sides of political parties seem to BOTH be on the take from businesses BASED in the US where their top exects live and enjoy life,..but send the WORK over seas and collect the money,....that's WRONG,.. and we need a politician to take a stand AND SAY SO!! May the "PEASANTS WITH PITCH FORKS" RALLY AGAIN!

Edit Re: NORTH AMERICA IS NOT THE UNITED STATES!
Hi Tim & the…PEASANTS WITH PITCH FORKS

Thanks so much for writing. This is the type of communication that will get idea’s flowing. I continue to say that I will listen to you. Now don’t you think that will be going where the party candidates won’t go? Using today’s technology, I will communicate and continue to monitor and act on the wishes of the people of Ohio throughout my six year term as your US Senator. That is also where the parties won’t go, and have never gone. And, regardless of who I may, or may not, sound like, I will do and vote the wishes of the people of the state of Ohio. This is also going to be new in my life time, and also yours.

I’m hoping that you and everyone else will see the real differences when comparing me to party candidates. I’m sure as the word continues to get out and around the state of Ohio, and you read more about me, you will begin to feel more secure about what I’m offering as your next United States Senator.

I’m also looking forward to traveling around this great state and meeting each and every one of you if at all possible. I don’t know that I’ve ever met 12 million people in my life yet, but in the next eight months I am going to try. I will not be having these high priced meetings to take your money for my campaign, like some of the other candidates, but if you would like me to come meet you, and talk to you in person, just let me know, and we will pick a time and place that will work for both of us.

Before answering to the things you brought up, please let me say a couple other things. I love this part of campaigning, because this is also very different, and very important stuff.

- Choosing to be an independent United States Senate candidate is choosing to avoid any party interference, or influence.

- It also allows me to listen to you, and to vote with the confidence of having the majority of 12 million Ohioans directing my votes…and the bills I introduce. And yes, I intend on doing a lot of that.

- Since this is a new concept, I know that I have to convince at least 2-3 million voters that the party days are over. We need people party candidates, not party candidates. We’ve tried party candidates for 44 of my adult years of life and it hasn’t worked, and the parties are now totally out of control. “Back and Forth” & “Back and Forth”, similar results, different parties, different people.

- In addition, choosing not to accept money from anyone for my campaign gives me the big and obvious advantage of owing no one except the people of Ohio when taking office. This election will be setting a trend for our state, other states, and future elections.

- “I will know and vote the wishes of the State of Ohio because I will ask you”

Thanks, I really needed to say that!

Ok now, thanks for agreeing with me so far, but like I said, this campaign, and this election, and my six year term in office is about you. The People of Ohio. But it certainly makes me feel like we are starting in a good direction. I don’t feel that the other parties will have the benefit of going in the same direction as my campaign, and they haven’t during my adult life. This is all new.

I have the same fears as you in continuing the direction we are going and having leadership that doesn’t seem to know how to turn it around. This has been going on for years and with both parties in office during the downturn in jobs in our county.

I have been in manufacturing all my adult life and agree with you, that manufacturing is the basis for the strength, or weakness of our country.

Manufacturing jobs are for real people, average people, the majority of people, I know because I’ve been one all my life. You’re right, that’s what we need to get our people back to work.

Now, as much as I agree about a, Fair Trade Policy, I’m thinking that we need to help ourselves in many other ways in addition to policies. We need to be more competitive. We need to be able to buy everything we need from the United States, made by United States Citizens, and made in the United States. Right now, that is not possible because we’ve let it slip away to other countries.

You ask why politicians can’t see China taking over the world. I think they do, but have no idea what to do about it.

See if you agree with this….we didn’t get into this mess overnight, and it will take a while to get out of it. We need a long range plan that most everyone will agree on, and be part of.

For instance, if you put a tariff on goods coming in to the United States prior to producing the same goods in the United States, we will be hurting our citizens with higher costs, at a time where we can’t take much more.

Let’s use my pencil factory theory. If we as proud United States Citizens, would agree to buy all pencils from within the US borders, and only from the two or three new and efficient pencil factories built for this purpose, and only hiring proud, English speaking United States Citizens to work in these factories. Whew! And cutting out any middle distributors which would add to the costs, and buying directly from the factories in quantities reasonable and effective for manufacturing and shipping, even if we would have to share with neighbors so those quantities could be shipped at the best prices, it could work.

A good business man/woman or group of business men/women could come up with a cost of this to happen, and the cost of each pencil, providing we could as, “We The People”, regulate our government not to interfere with mandates, and destructive actions that are used to support our oversized, overpaid, unregulated, and unacceptable and arrogant politicians. If the shoe fits…wear it…if it doesn’t…I’m not talking about you.

This plan would also cut costs in education, communication, instructions on how to use a pencil safely, no pushing one for English, and having United States Citizens moving to the front of the employment line.

After providing for the United States Citizens…jobs…an affordable product, a government that would quit imposing unaffordable, and unfair mandates that raise the price of everything just because our government can’t control it’s spending…don’t you think we would have a good start?

This way of thinking could start a friendly revolution to get the United States, back on track and having the citizens getting back the pride that we have been missing so much. Also, we will be providing a future for our children once again.

I need to stop for now, but just know that I’m willing to listen and do what the people of the Great State of Ohio want me to do as your servant in the United States Senate.

Thanks so much and I’ll talk to you soon,
Dave

P.S. Tim/Peasants With Pitch Forks……If I didn’t answer your questions, please keep asking and I promise I will keep trying until you are satisfied I’ve done that. I would like to prove to you that I am, and I will be different then any United States Senator you’ve ever had.

Tariff

Tim's tariff idea is right on. Our country used to have tariffs on everything brought into the U.S. Then ..Free Trade. In the 1950's my father, who was a strong advocate of tariffs, said our workers are the highest paid in the world. Without tariffs we either have to bring other countries up to our standards or sink to theirs.

We need tariffs on everything that we can't produce in the U.S. There are some minerals and plants in this catagory. As for manufactured products, I would put tariffs on all of them. If they are not produced here, companies will see that it is to their benefit to move a factory here, so it is produced here.

Economists keep talking about a value added tax to decrease the deficit. Tariffs would keep the price of products lower than a value added tax. Think of the jobs that would be created.

We also need to stop outsourcing jobs. It is unbelievable how much of the stimulus money ended up outsourced to foreign countries. One of our biggest outsourcing areas is in telecommunications. Most of us know a telemarketer call by the accent. At least half of our programming jobs have gone overseas. Those are high paying jobs. In addition companies have been allowed to import programmers saying they can't find anyone here with the skill set needed.

Re: NORTH AMERICA IS NOT THE UNITED STATES!

Hi Modene,

Thanks for your comments. It's nice to have people who will get involved and have ideas they feel will work to help some of the problems we have here in The United States.

I am not apposed to tariffs, but let’s take a look at both sides. The countries that are charged tariffs on their products coming into our country will charge similar tariffs on our products going to their country. We like to sell our products to other countries to try to even the trade deficit. It would take some good research to determine the trade off we would be seeing. Otherwise...what effect will a tariff on imports have on our exports?

In addition, it seems that everyone that wants to solve our trade deficit wants to do so by means other than for the United States to be more productive. We should look at the amount of man/woman hours it takes to produce equal products and compare those numbers. At least by doing that we could see how productive we are instead of just how much more our products cost. That may shine a little more light on this problem.

As far as exporting jobs, I think there would be two major reasons for that. One, Greed, and two Survival. If greed would be the reason, shame on you for being so greedy. If survival would be the reason, shame on you for being so stupid, because in either case you are screwing up the economy in the United States.

When people are buying imports for better quality, shame on the United States for not doing better work.

If we throw stones in every direction we could hit some one, or some group, or some business that is, or has not been successful in quality and pricing.

We need to stop the unnecessary government interference to reduce those costs in order to be more competitive in world markets.

Also, once again, we need to separate The United States from North America so we can define what imports are and what products are actually made in The United States. Get it out there!!! Products made in The United States are the only products that we should consider as products made in The United States of America. Not just America or North America. PERIOD!!!

I'm not saying not to deal with our neighbors, but let’s just quit trying to make it sound like the products are made by United States Citizens. Deal with it... I say! Don't get me started!

I hear you about those telecommunication service people. I buy a Gold service for my lap top just so I get to talk to someone in the U.S. Everything else I have is like yours. One of these days I will end up having someone I can't understand for my gold plan and you will hear the earth rattle.

We have lots to work on and I don't have all the answers but I will do my best to get them. You can bet on that.

Thanks, and talk to you soon,
Dave
